The pressure reducing valve DM 401ZK is installed in the supply lines of the soot blowers of a coal-fired power plant. The valve is designed for operation with steam (300 °C) at a throughput of 2,000 kg/h and a pressure regulation of 46 bar down to 15 bar.

Due to the pressure drop of 31 bar, the seat and cone of the valve were hard-faced. In addition, the body at the outlet was extended from DN 50 to DN 80 in order to comply with the recommended flow velocity of 15 to 60 m/s for superheated steam.

A damping system has been installed in the water bag to prevent vibrations in the valve and thus ensure precise pressure control.
